Udaipur is one of the most precious jewels that Rajasthan has preserved over the years. Udaipur has been the buzz word in tourism industry in India for its great landscape, prodigious palaces, lush green gardens and lovely lakes.
City Palace
The City Palace located on the banks of Lake Pichola is the largest palace complex in the state. This huge palace complex built in white marble is built in the 16th century. The palace is enclosed in massive fort walls and has many giant pillars, grand silver doors, huge domes and arches. Entry to this architectural marvel is through Hati Pol, the elephant gate followed by Tripolia, the triple gate. The Palace has a number of balconies and terraces overlooking the Pichola Lake. Suraj Gokhada, the balcony of the sun and Mor Chowk, the peacock courtyard are major attractions here. The palace is home to a vast collection of antiques, royal possessions, paintings, mirror works, decorative furniture etc.

Fateh Prakash Palace
This grand palace is now taken by the HRH group. This is an ideal place to enjoy a luxurious royal stay or to conduct a royal wedding. The rooms are fabulously decorated with royal furniture, paintings, poster beds etc. Crystal gallery in the palace is a great attraction. It has a huge collection of scintillating crystals, crystal curios, furniture and fountains.
Jag Mandir
Located in Pichola Lake, Jag Mandir is an island palace built in the 17th century. It is also called Lake Garden Palace. The design of the palace with is amazing carvings are simply breathtaking. The palace has a row of giant elephant structure in white marble and a carved chattri which is a must see. The wonderful view of sunset from here is not to be missed. The island with its beautiful gardens and flowers is simply mind blowing.
Lake Pichola
This beautiful lake is known as the life line of Udaipur. There are manybeautiful palaces, temples and gardens around Pichola. This 4 km long lake has two islands - Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir. The Lake Palace is also located in the middle of the lake.
Sahelion-ki-Bari
This enchanting garden with its expensive lawns, pools, flowerbeds and exquisite fountains is a great picnic spot. Sahelion-ki-Bari is famous for its lotus pool and a brilliantly decorated room with glass mosaic. It is located on the shores of Lake Fateh Sagar. Take a relaxing walk along the shady walking lanes of the garden and enjoy every moments.
Maharana Pratap Memorial
Also known as Moti Magari, this is the memorial of a great Rajput warrior -Maharana Pratap. It is located on the Moti Magri overlooking Fateh Sagar Lake. Tourists come here to show respect to the bronze statue of Maharana Pratap on his horse ‘Chetak’ and for the sound and light show that is performed every evening.
Fateh Sagar Lake
This Lake was built in the 17th century and is located to the north of Lake Pichola. The lake and its surroundings are very appealing. The main attraction here is the Nehru Island garden and solar observatory. The beautiful backdrop of the lake with hills and greenery attracts many tourists here to enjoy boating.
How To Reach Udaipur
By Road: Udaipur lies on the midway between Delhi and Mumbai on the NH 8 which is also known as the Golden Quadrilateral. The east west corridor that connects Porbander and Silchar passes through Udaipur. Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC), Rajasthan Roadways buses are available from Delhi for Udaipur.
By Air: Dabok airport which is also known as the Maharana Pratap is a domestic airport located about 20 km from Udaipur. It offers flights on a daily basis to Mumbai, Delhi, Jodhpur and Jaipur.
By Rail: Udaipur railway station connects all major cities of India like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Indore, Gwalior and Bhopal. One of most luxurious trains called the Palace on Wheels makes a regular stop at the Udaipur station. Chetak Expres and Mewar Expres connect Udaipur to New Delhi. For travelers going to North Eastern part of India, Udaipur offers connecting trains to Kota.
