Hawa Mahal
One of the most famous structures in Jaipur, the Hawa mahal is an architectural marvel made up of red and pink sandstone. Built in the 18th century, the uniqueness of this palace is that it resembles the crown of Lord Krishna, the Hindu deity. It is a pyramid shaped five storey building having 953 small windows called ‘jharokhas’ and numerous arches. Located in the palace complex, there is an archeological museum. This palace gives a majestic look in the early hours of the morning and evenings with its elaborate illumination.
Timing: 10:00 hrs to 17:30 hrs except on Fridays. Admission is free on Mondays.
Amber Fort
Amber Fort, also known as the Amer Fort, is located about 11 km from Jaipur in a town named Amer. This fort and its palaces have tremendous aesthetic appeal and is a wonderful amalgamation of Hindu-Rajput culture. Amber Fort, made of red sandstone and marble, encompasses large ramparts and multiple gates. The Sheesh Mahal (mirror Palace), a grand mirror walled hall inside the Jaimandir palace is the major attraction here. The walls and ceilings of this hall are beautifully decorated with thousands of small mirrors, which reflect lights and hues. The museum housed here houses many rare royal artifacts.
Jaigarh Fort
This is a hilltop fort spread across a sprawling 3 km compound, overlooking the city of Jaipur. It resembles the Amber Fort in its structure. It is also known as the Victory Fort and is yet another attraction in Jaipur. The complex of the fort includes several grand structures like the Divya Burj, Vijay Garh, Laxmi Vilas, Lalit Mandir, Vilas Mandir and Aram Mandir along with an exquisite palace and museum. The view of the structures from its grant entrances- Dungar Darwza and Awani darwaza are absolutely stunning.
Nahargarh Fort
It is a spectacular fort located on the edge of the Aravalli Hills in Jaipur. Adventure lovers can reach the fort with a two kilometer long trek. Nahargarh literally means ‘abode of tigers’. The Fort and the palace were used by members of the royal Rajput family as their entertainment house. The marvelously sculptured interiors have numerous rooms connected by wonderfully painted corridors. The architecture is a blend of Indo-European style.

City Palace
The City Palace is located in the north east direction of Jaipur. It includes two palaces named Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal. The complex of the palace shelters several prodigious buildings, lush green gardens and courtyards, surrounded by huge walls. The palace cover 1/7th space of the city and is a blend of Indo-Mughal architecture.
Jantar Mantar
Bulit in the 18th century, Jantar Mantar is a basically a storehouse of architectural and astronomical instruments. It is featured in the National monument list. A visit to this observatory is exhilarating. It is also famous as world’s largest stone observatory in the world. Historians are of the opinion that, Maharaja Jai Singh took long seven years to complete the construction of this observatory.
How To Reach Jaipur
By Road: Jaipur is well connected to many cities of India. NH 8 connects Jaipur with Delhi and Mumabi. Bus services are available for many other places like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat etc. Sindhi Camp, Jawahar Nagar, Durgapura and Sodala are the main bus stands in Jaipur.
By Air: Jaipur has an international airport located in the town of Sanganer which is about 19 km from Jaipur. Terminal 1 is the international terminal and terminal 2 is the domestic terminal. The airport operates flights to several cities of India and Asia.
By Rail: Jaipur is connected via trains to major cities of India and various other small towns of Rajasthan. Palace of Wheels is one of best known luxury trains in India that serves in Jaipur.
